Context & Background

What was created?

Project Pathfinder is a comprehensive indoor navigation mapping system integrated with an administrative operations dashboard. It leverages modern technologies to provide real-time positioning within complex indoor environments where GPS is unreliable.

Why was it needed?

The primary goal was to build a reliable, scalable solution to map indoor spaces and provide live positioning using BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) triangulation. This reduces the traditional reliance on GPS for indoor navigation in complex facilities. The system also integrates an intelligent AI helper to assist users and provides administration with a robust dashboard for managing nodes, monitoring system health, and performing maintenance tasks.

Realisations & Features

Key components built during this project:

  • Indoor Navigation System: A scalable, interactive mapping interface that enables users to identify and locate specific Points of Interest (POIs) within the facility, with intuitive wayfinding capabilities.
  • BLE Triangulation Engine: A sophisticated algorithm that accurately calculates real-time X, Y coordinates by analyzing Bluetooth beacon signal strengths, ensuring precise indoor positioning.
  • Admin Dashboard: A comprehensive web-based operations portal featuring health metrics, active node monitoring, system settings management, and advanced node configuration interfaces.
  • AI Assistant: An intelligent helper system that dynamically assists users within the facility, providing guidance and information retrieval.
